So simple to set up even a kid can do it.

Watch my 6 year old set it up on his own. Thanks Charlie!

How to set up on sand
Step by Step

It's straightforward to set up - just follow these simple instructions.

Impressive

Great in the wind

Our sun shades will comfortably outperform other beach tents and umbrellas in stronger winds - we’ve successfully used them on the beach in winds up to 25kmph.

Set up tips
Windy days

Our sun shades will comfortably outperform other beach tents and umbrellas in stronger winds - we’ve successfully used them on the beach in winds up to 25kmph.

That said, you will need to take extra care to ensure a really sturdy setup. Overall, on windy days you need to make sure the fabric is stretched out really tight, the anchor bags are heavily weighted, the open edge of the shade faces the wind and, if possible, the poles are pushed into the sand or surface a little deeper than usual.

Step 1

Check the ropes. Make sure the ropes that are connected to the corners of the sun shade are really secure and not likely to slip when pulled hard. Re-tie then with a simple knot if necessary.

Step 2

If the wind hits the back or side it will be less secure. If possible, position the shade so the main open face points directly into the wind.

Step 3

Fill the anchor bags as much as possible, dont be scared to load them up - you can even bury them in the sand. The more windy the more weight!

Step 4

Pull the bags out and keep the fabric tight. The fabric is made to stretch! so don't be afraid to pull it tight. If you are on grass, stretch the fabric out tight and ensure the pegs are really secure.

Step 5

You can angle the poles slightly into the wind. This will brace the force of the wind and prevent the poles from being pushed over. On sand you can also dig a small hole to further support the poles.

Step 6

Adjust as necessary. The key is to make sure the fabric is tight and the bags/pegs have sufficient downforce to keep the poles secure.

Sandbag Attachment

Occassionally you may need to re-attach the sandbag ropes (eg to wash the shade or if the string loosens off for any reason).
